Rapid Tan vs Standard

Which Tan is right for me?

I get asked by Clients whats the difference between the Standard 8 hour tan and a Rapid 1-4 hour tan. Below is a little explanation of how a Rapid Tan works.

Difference Between A Rapid Tan And A Traditional Tan

Rapid solutions are made by blending and preparing the ingredients in a way that the amino acids in your skin interact with the DHA faster than with a traditional (8 hour) tan.

Keep in mind that this does not mean that you will tan quicker, it just means that you don’t need as long of an exposure to become tanned.

This is similar to the way we tan naturally, we need to stay out for less time in strong sunlight (rapid tans) to get the same tan that we achieve by staying out all day in weaker sunlight (traditional tans).

Rapid tans work by decreasing the contact time DHA requires for it to activate and begin to darken your skin into a tan, this is done through a closely guarded acceleration process, where the solution ingredients are specifically formulated to create this faster release.

Rapid tans provide the same lasting tan as expected from a traditional tan (8 hour), but with the added convenience of being able to rinse off hours earlier. Rather than having to wait 8, 12, or more hours, clients are instead able to rinse off in as little as 1 hour!

Unlike traditional tans, rapid tans do not come in “percentage strengths”; instead, rapid tans have time requirements that dictate how long a client must wait before rinsing. Because your skin still requires the full 12 hours to fully darken from the reaction, rinsing off will give the appearance of rinsing away the tan as the bronzers (the temporary colour) wash away, but don’t panic the colour will be back!

Choosing the right tan for you depends on certain factors.

Q. How light/dark do you want to be?

A. Clients who want a subtle glow I usually suggest opting for the Rapid as you are in control of how light or dark you want to be by rinsing off in just 1-4 hours. Light 1 hours Medium 1-2 hours Dark 3-4 hours

Q. Could you sleep in a 8 hour tan?

A. I don’t like recommending you sleep in your tan. We are unaware of how we sleep during night. Some people drool without knowing. You could be sleeping on your side with your hands together between your legs. Sleeping with your palm touching your face. The only solution to sleeping in tan is wearing long sleeves and long bottoms laying face up and star fishing all night – if you can do this then great!

Q. What’s the occasion for the tan?

Is your tan for a wedding? Is it for a night out? A light – medium glow will look far better for a wedding than a deep dark tan. For a night out on the other hand you can go a darker brown and look gorgeous. It just all depends what event the tan is for!

Q. Would you have errands to run after your tan?

If you need to pop to the shops, do a school run, need to go to the gym, A rapid is the way forward.

With only a 1-4 hour rinse you are free to do what you like after you have rinsed and dressed. Also think about weather conditions, going out with a 8 hour tan on, you are at risk of ruining your tan if you get caught in rain.

Whether you choose the 8 Hour or the Rapid Tan, you can be certain that the result will be a beautiful, long lasting tan!  As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!
